Props, Mise-en-Scene, SFX, Costume

There will be no particular props used, just things that it is typical to see around school, so we may have a table with books on, and other similar things that it is typical to see that relate to education. The diary will be a prop as the boy will be writing in it and it will revolve around that.

This is the book which we will be using as a diary. We covered it in newspaper, put the boys name on it and put the title of a popular Green Day song on it. This is to make it seem more masculine.

These CD's are used as props in the bedroom to achor down that he likes rock music and is therefore 'different'.

Apologies for the sideways pictures! Ill change them when i figure out how...!

Mise-en-Scene will be pretty obvious but there will be alot of people around and school uniforms, school bells, classrooms, corridors- these kind of things will all help to tie down that our film is set in a school. For the bedroom we have signified that the boy is 'different' by using posters of rock bands on the walls. Also we have signified that it is a boys room as it is quite messy with purpley/blue walls.

Costume will be typical. So for the boy that is a nerd, old fashioned clothes, maybe socks and sandels, glasses.. this ind of thing will all signify that he is a geek and that he does get bullied a bit around school for the way he looks.
For the girl, she will look pure just look pretty. She wont be wearing anything in particular, and she will have quite neutral makeup just to show that she is a nice, and innocent young girl.
For the girls current boyfriend, he will most likely be wearing sporty clothes, and look quite arrogant. He will look like he has put effort into what he is wearing and look vain, this will signify the 'jock' character type.

Podcast 2

Sorry we haven't done in a while as it has been half term and then we have been busy tweaking our idea and doing other things, hopefully from now on we will keep up with it and do one every week!

Location Scouting

We have been location scouting, and see as though our film will be set in school we have been taking alot of pictures of different shot types or angles that we think would look good in our film.

Our second location would be a house, and possibly the bedroom of the boy who is the central protagonist in our film.

This is the possibly settings where our film could be shot within school;

Here are this pictures of the house;

Final Idea

Me and Lucy have decided to do the rom-com which was in the inital ideas post (highlighted in pink).

We can do this around school, using students as our characters. It would be aimed at an audience of around 15-24. We will make the first 2 minutes interesting by having our credits in different ways, such as on post it notes and texts etc. The first 2 minutes will make you want to see the rest of the film as you will want to know what happens when the boy and the girl meet up.

We are still yet to find our cast, but we have our settings and the idea.

Our first idea of a title for our film 'In His Eyes' had been taken and was a 2009 film.

So instead, we tried 'In His Sights' this had also been taken.

We have finally decided that our working title for the moment will be 'Slim chance'. This relates to the slim chance that the boy has with the girl.

Also just to confirm:

"Stussy" is our production company

"Like Media" is our distributor

Podcast 1

This is mine and Lucy's first podcast. We were not familiar with the equipment, so as this is our first one we were still getting used to using it! We will be doing one of these every week, keeping you updated with our progress with the coursework.

Any comments would be great help! :)

        My Initial Ideas/Pitchs

        Genre- Social Realism

        • Opening credits on a black screen, sound of a car screeching and screams.
        • Shot one- someone under a car (run over)
        • Film title would appear
        • An interview, different shots of diver used (zooming in, close ups, high angle shots)
        • Whilst the driver is answering questions there is a flash back of what happened earlier in the night.
        • Cuts to people laying down flowers
        • Sad music, fade out.
This is my initial idea and will be changed many times before I actually decide on my final idea.

        Genre- Rom-Com

        • Either 1 boy, 1 girl- 2 girls, 1 boy- or 2 boys, 1 girl
        • If there was 1 boy and 1 girl the idea would be that the girl would be shy and not popular trying to impress the 'popular' boy that is stereotypically found in school. She would be overly dressed and make a fool out of herself trying too hard to make him notice her.
        • Or 1 average looking boy liked 1 girl and texted her telling her to meet him, the girl debates whether to meet up with him for a while before following his trail of post-it notes which eventually leads to them realising that they really like each other. But in the opening 2 minutes she doesn't find out who the boy is, as he keeps his identity a secret because he thinks she won't like him.
        • Stereotypical- 1 girl breaks up with her boyfriend and starts to date another boy. Her ex gets jealous and tells her that he loves her before beating up to the other boy. She then realises that she loves him too and goes back to him.

The idea in pink is our final idea.
